Think about it Thursday: HOW TO BECOME A HAPPY PERSON OTHERS WANT TO BE AROUND

6 09 2012

While waiting In the doctor’s office I found a post by Michael Hyatt that resonated with me. The title, “HOW TO BECOME A HAPPY PERSON OTHERS WANT TO BE AROUND“, turned me off. It seemed like a fluffy self help post. But, it turned out to be a great post.

The whole article is based on how to presented yourself as a positive person for your benefit and that of those around you.  It is insightful and highly suggest checking it out.

I have two thoughts on his post:

I’m not a fan of his fourth tip, “Shift your identity”. The other tips seem great, but this one is a little fluffy. He presents it from the perspective of speaking things into existence. There is some merit to the point, but I would never give this advice.  So, I’m suggesting that you pass over this tip. Don’t judge the whole article by this one.

I’ll add to his sixth tip, “Catch them doing something right”.  What you recognize gets repeated.  This is true in business, volunteer work, and the family.  People like being recognized. By praising those you lead for curtain actions, you condition them.  Good job Hyatt.  (See it even works in blogging).
